Japan is currently the world’s third largest economy after the United States and China. Japan is also a technological innovator and cultural powerhouse. Therefore, studying Japanese offers a variety of future personal and professional benefits.

Tennessee's top foreign investor is Japan ($14 billion), followed by Germany ($2 billion), Canada ($1 billion) and the United Kingdom ($1 billion). Japan is Tennessee's fourth largest export market after Canada, Mexico and China. Japan is also the first and only country to hold a Consulate-General in Tennessee.
