Supporting Foreign Language Study at Home
Here are 7 simple things you can do to encourage Japanese learning with your child.
1. Ask your child what they learned today. Every lesson has a daily objective we talk about and assess at the end of class. Ask what today's objective was and if your student met it.
2. Have your student teach you to say something in Japanese every day.
3. Share the importance of studying a foreign language with your child. Talk to your student about the benefits of studying a foreign language.
4. Help your child make time to practice. If you have more than one student, have them practice speaking together!
5. Explore links on the student links page with your child or invest in some language learning resources.
6. Find cultural events connected to Japanese culture. A list of recommended resources and events can be found here.
7. Celebrate Japanese holidays and traditions. Make a Japanese craft, go out for sushi, or find out how Christmas is celebrated in Japan.
